Water Quality Assured as Lake Lanier Seasonal Turnover Takes Place

Each fall, when algae bloom in the fall in Lake Lanier (the County’s raw water source) and release compounds like MIB and geosmin, our drinking water can taste a little earthy. These compounds are NOT toxic or harmful, and the County’s Department of Water & Sewer actively uses ozone treatment to remove the compounds from the water supply.
