Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills was elected in 2012 to serve as the District 4 commissioner for the 2013-2016 term. She was re-elected in 2016 for the 2017-2020 term and again in 2020 for the 2021-2024 term. 

Commissioner Mills was elected by the Board of Commissioners to serve as vice chair in 2019 and 2020, and chairwoman in 2021. 

On the state level, Commissioner Mills has been very involved with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) where she serves on the Board of Managers and Policy Council. She has previously served as chair of the General County Government Policy Committee.

On the national level, Commissioner Mills serves on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Health Steering Committee and was invited to NACo Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for a small, invitation-only roundtable discussion on emerging county-level strategies to prevent opioid misuse. In December 2020, she moderated a panel on mental health needs within our jails.

Commissioner Mills is the founder of the Forsyth County Drug Awareness Council and works with community leaders on mental health and suicide prevention. She was awarded the Family Haven Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2017, and Jones Mills was the recipient of the Don Hendricks Partnership Award from the Forsyth County Board of Education – the highest honor a partner in education can receive– in 2015. She is a founding member of the North Forsyth 400 Rotary Club and has successfully worked with the club to put green houses at all the schools in the North Forsyth Cluster to promote wellness and healthy living. 

Cindy is the mother of two children, Megan Mills Bottoms and Courtney Mills Moore, and the proud grandmother of Brooklyn, Charlie, Maddox, Leana and Brynn. She is an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday school.
