Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Recognized by Georgia Recreation and Park Association

Departmentrecognized for four GRPA awards

Forsyth County Parks& Recreation has received the 2019 Georgia Recreation and Park Association(GRPA) District 7 Agency of the Year Award. The agency of the year awardidentifies the outstanding efforts of recreation and park agencies across theseventh district. Nominees were judged on staff development, budgeting andresources, facilities offered, use of technology, outstanding programs andmajor accomplishments.

 

Youth Athletic SupervisorClayton Munnell received the GRPA District 7 Recreation Programmer of the YearAward. Munnell was recognized for his contributions to the athletics divisionas well as his leadership in the annual Slugfest baseball event that raisesmoney for local charities. 

 

Denmark High Schoolstudent Olivia Edge received the GRPA District 7 Volunteer Service Award. Edgewas recognized for her efforts in preserving her community’s naturalenvironment as well as her commitment to keep Caney Creek Preserve (2755 CaneyRd.) litter free. 

 

President of the ForsythCounty Parks Foundation Kristin Morrissey received the GRPA State VolunteerService Award. Morrissey was recognized for her efforts in developing avolunteer board, raising funds for scholarships and promoting the importance ofparks and recreation for local communities.

 

“I am so proud of theoutstanding efforts made by our staff and volunteer citizens to receive theserecognitions,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jim Pryor. “These awards aremade possible because of the continuous support we receive from the Board ofCommissioners and the citizens.”
