Plant a Tree On Georgia Arbor Day
Forsyth County continues tree planting tradition
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful invites residents to their second annual Community Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, Feb. 21. Festivities will include a tree planting demonstration, seed and seedling giveaways and food from Los Rios Food Truck.
The free event will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 at the Cumming Aquatic Center (201 Aquatic Circle).
The celebration will include remarks from Seth Hawkins of the Georgia Forestry Commission, City of Cumming Mayor Troy Brumbalow and The University of Georgia Extension Office.
During the event, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful will subsequently announce the winner of their “My Favorite Tree” contest. To enter the contest, people of all ages can post a photo of their favorite tree in Forsyth County with an explanation of what it means to them using 75 words or less.
Submissions should be posted on one of Keep Forsyth County Beautiful’s social media pages. The deadline is Feb. 18 and the winner of the contest will be announced during the Arbor Day celebration as well as on Keep Forsyth County Beautiful’s social media pages.
