Signal Improvements at SR 9 and Smith Lane/Coal Mountain Dr. Scheduled for April 1-4
Signal improvements underway at the intersection of Smith Lane/Coal Mountain Dr. and SR 9 will require the entrance to Smith Lane/Coal Mountain Dr. from SR 9 to be blocked from Tuesday, April 1, through Friday, April 4, and the intersection signal to be shut down for approximately 12 hours, currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 1.
Travel lanes along SR 9 will remain open, and access to Smith Lane/Coal Mountain Dr. will continue to be available from SR 369. The work has been scheduled during spring break to help minimize disruption for motorists and nearby North Forsyth High and Middle schools.
The Coal Mountain Connector project remains on track to open mid-year, if not sooner.
It will include the addition of loop detection at the intersection of Smith Lane/Coal Mountain Dr., SR 9 and the Coal Mountain Connector and will provide an alternative route for motorists traveling east and west on SR 369. To learn more, watch the On the Move episode from January.
