Forsyth County Commissioner Alfred John was elected in 2020 to serve the 2021-2024 term representing District 2, which encompasses the southeastern portion of the County. Commissioner John was elected by the Board of Commissioners to serve as chairman in 2022 and 2023, as well as secretary in 2021. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) after being asked to join by former Commissioner Rick Swope in 2017. In 2020, he was voted by his fellow board members to be the Chairman of the ZBA.
Commissioner John’s background is in Human Resource technology, project management and technology implementation. He has a depth of knowledge in various applications related to Human Resource and has consulted with employers on process efficiencies in multiple areas of the field. Most recently he held a leadership role for a large Buckhead firm, managing HR operations, payroll and technology.
With passion for his community, Commissioner John wants to use the knowledge he learned from ZBA and abroad to enhance the image of Forsyth County as a great place to live, work, play and raise a family. Other topics Commissioner John wants to focus on are growing Forsyth County’s commercial base and reinforcing road and infrastructure needs.
Commissioner John and his wife have lived in Forsyth County for 20 years, raising two children who attended Settles Bridge Elementary, Riverwatch Middle and Lambert High School.
