Adopt a Pet

We consider ourselves match-makers as we strive to help you choose the pet that’s right for you and your family. Our staff works diligently to learn as much as we can about our adoption animals’ likes, dislikes, quirks and all-around personalities.

Bring a Pet "Home for the Holidays!"

All adoption fees are waived for the annual Home for the Holidays promotion from Nov. 18, 2023, to Jan. 3, 2024. No matter what holiday you are celebrating, it can always be brightened by a furry friend at your side.

Adoption Process

Browse adoptable pets online. Search our listings of adoptable pets below!

Apply to adopt. Fill out an adoption profile form:

Once the form is filled out in its entirety, please email your profile to adoptions@forsythco.com, and an adoption counselor will contact you to discuss the next steps in the adoption process. You may also bring the form with you when you visit the shelter.

3. Meet your new best friend. The Pet Resource Center is open for adoptions and meet-and-greets from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Our teams of experts will be available to answer any questions you may have about the animal’s needs and personality.

4. Finalize the adoption. Once your application has been approved and the adoption fees paid, you are free to take home your new pet and begin your journey together!

A note regarding adoptions. All adoptions are on a first come, first served basis. The Forsyth County Pet Resource Center does not hold animals for adoption. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption for any reason.

Adoption Fees

The adoption fee is $85. All cats and kittens are two (2) for $85.

Your Pet's Health

All animals are medically evaluated prior to being placed for adoption, where they receive the following:

  • Medical exam

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations (12 weeks and older receive a rabies vaccination)
  • Spay/neuter surgery
  • Microchip
  • Flea/tick prevention

We currently do not combo test our felines for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV). We do offer combo testing for our adoptable felines for a non-refundable fee of $35 at the expense of the adopter. Felines have to be three months of age or older for a combo test to be completed at our facility.
