What do I need to apply for a marriage license?

Please go to https://www.georgiaprobaterecords.com/landing.aspx?CountyNo=058&page=ML to submit a marriage application online.  Complete and submit the application online and then both applicants will need to appear at the Probate Court Clerk's Office anytime between 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday with the confirmation number for the online application and a valid photo ID (driver's license, passport or identification card). 

There are a few public computer terminals available in the Probate Court Clerk's Office to fill out an application online or you may use your mobile phone or home computer.

If divorced, it is not necessary for you to bring in a copy of your final decree of divorce; however, you will need to provide the date of the final decree along with the county and state in which the divorce was finalized on the application.  It is recommended that you keep a certified copy of the final decree of divorce for your personal records. 

Applicants must be 18 years or older to apply unless meeting the exception listed in O.C.G.A. Section 19-3-2(b) for 17 year olds.  Please call the Probate Court office at 770-781-2140 with questions or for more information.

What is the fee for a marriage license?

The license fee is $56.00 payable by cash, check, or credit/debit card. If using a credit/debit card, there is a 4.7% convenience fee charged by the credit card processing company and added to the total amount. The fee is reduced to $16 upon presentation of the Court form certifying pre-marital counseling. The form and requirements may be obtained from the Forms section below, the Probate Court office in person or by email.

How can I get copies of my marriage license?
