All Southbound Lanes of State Route 400 Open to Traffic Wednesday
The final section on State Route 400 southbound betweenState Route 369 (Browns Bridge Road) and State Route 141 (Peachtree Parkway)will open to traffic Wednesday, July 11 at 5 a.m.
The widening of State Route 400 has added an additional lanein each direction on State Route 400 between McFarland Parkway and State Route369, along with widening the bridges over Big Creek and Lake Lanier.
C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. began work in April 2015.In December, southbound lanes between State Route 141 and McFarland Parkwayopened to motorists. Starting Wednesday, the entire widened corridor will beopen for drivers to use.
The project was made possible through a partnership betweenForsyth County and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Georgia DOTcontributed $13 million to this work and the remainder of the project funding –approximately $57.6 million – came from the Forsyth County Transportation Bond.
The completion date for this project is October 31, 2018. Additional work to replace concrete sections and a final concrete grinding willoccur in following months. Weeknight and weekend lane closures for this workwill occur as the work is scheduled.
