Animal Shelter Closes Temporarily for Cleaning
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is temporarily closed for a post-summer facility cleaning through the end of the week.
Residents interested in exploring adoption of animals may visit the shelter online and on Facebook to see all adoptable animals or contact the shelter with questions. The shelter’s stray intake and lost and found remains open during the temporary closure period.
The shelter continues to call upon county residents to adopt and foster animals as the shelter nears its care capacity and adoption rates have slowed.
The Animal Shelter’s adoption rate has decreased about 10 percent versus last year with only 312 animals being adopted since January 2023. Currently, the shelter has over 50 dogs and 180 cats and kittens looking for their forever homes. The shelter is scheduled to re-open to the public following the cleaning on Tuesday, Aug. 8 (the shelter is closed weekly on Sunday and Monday).
