Be a Part of Forsyth County’s Future – Attend an Implementation Workshop This Week
Foster Forsyth, the process of updating the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, is now focused on implementation. Residents, businesses, property owners and community groups are encouraged to participate and help shape Forsyth County’s future. At Implementation Workshops being held Monday, June 13, and Wednesday, June 15, participants will help identify implementation strategies related to land use, housing, transportation and economic development.
Implementation Workshops
What needs to happen in the next five years for the county to achieve its vision?
- Monday, June 13, 6 – 8 p.m.: County Administration Building, Commissioners Meeting Room
- Wednesday, June 15, 6 – 8 p.m.: Central Park Recreation Center, Banquet Room
The Implementation Workshops are highly interactive meetings that will occur prior to development of the first draft of the Comprehensive Plan update. Workshop topics will include key subject areas and topics that have arisen during the planning process that require more dialogue among community members, based on input from the earlier Design Workshops and further conversation with Foster Forsyth committees. Please note that both Implementation Workshops will follow the same agenda.
Foster Forsyth will result in a full update to the county’s Comprehensive Plan, focused on community elements such as housing, land use, transportation and economic development. The Comprehensive Plan is the umbrella policy document for the county’s future growth and development, which plays an important role in rezoning and development decisions. The plan also establishes community goals and priorities for the county’s future. In late August, the final set of public meetings will present highlights from the draft Comprehensive Plan in an open-house format.
The update process provides an opportunity for the community as a whole to pause and have a meaningful dialogue about its vision for housing, quality of life and employment opportunities, along with the policies and programs that will support plan implementation.
The Comprehensive Plan update process is being conducted by Jacobs in collaboration with Kimley-Horn. For more information, please visit www.fosterforsyth.com or contact Amanda Hatton, a member of the Jacobs consultant team, at (404) 978-7535 or contactus@fosterforsyth.com.
