The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed two observances at an Oct. 5 meeting.
4-H Week
The Board proclaimed the week of Oct. 1-7, 2023, as 4-H Week to commend the efforts of the program’s dedicated volunteer leaders and mentors to teaching valuable life and readiness skills to children, helping members of the program acquire the essential elements of positive youth development such as generosity, belonging and independence.

Family Promise Week
To recognize and raise awareness of the issue of children and families who are experiencing homelessness in our community, the Board proclaimed the week of Oct. 15-21, 2023, as Family Promise Week. Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. began operations in 2016 and partners with local businesses, faith-based organizations and community members to empower families in making their transitions from homelessness to sustainable independence.
