Department of Water & Sewer Expands Septic Tank Pump-Out Program

The Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer is expanding its Septic Tank Pump-Out Program to help protect water quality throughout the County by providing a financial incentive for eligible residents to pump out their septic tanks at regular intervals. Prior to this expansion, the program was offered to residential Forsyth County Water & Sewer customers living near Lake Lanier.

Participants eligible for the program can receive a $100 rebate credit toward their water bill for pumping out their septic tank. The program is open to a limited number of eligible Forsyth County residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

To be eligible for the program, individuals must be a residential water customer of the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer, the property owner of the residence, and use a septic system for wastewater disposal. Individuals who obtain their water from a well or get water service from another provider are not eligible.

“A properly maintained septic system can help reduce potential contamination to local surface water and ground water resources,” Director of Water & Sewer Scott Adams said. “We are proud to offer this program to encourage regular septic system maintenance, pumping and servicing.”

Rebate applications must be received within 90 days of the completion of the pumping service, and the work must be performed by a certified/licensed septic tank pumping company approved by the Georgia Department of Health. Residents are also required to have a Forsyth County Water & Sewer account that is current on all billing obligations and a septic system that is at least 36 months old.

The Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer aims to provide Forsyth County residents with the highest quality of water and sewer service through progressive leadership and environmental stewardship
