Dhawan Appointed to Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors

Amita Dhawan has been appointed to the Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors as the District 2 representative for a three-year term of office set to begin on Dec. 8, 2021.

Dhawan was nominated for the position by District 2 Commissioner Alfred John during the Board of Commissioners Nov. 9 work session. The Board of Tax Assessors is comprised of five members who are appointed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

“I am pleased to appoint Amita to the Board of Assessors,” said Commissioner Alfred John. “Her private sector experience combined with her commitment to our community make her an excellent fit for the role.”

Dhawan also serves on the Forsyth County Chamber’s Transportation Taskforce and will serve as a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2022.

For over 17 years Dhawan has been a leader in business development. Currently, she drives growth and development for Cumming Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. Previously she held roles in business development at Emergent BioSolutions, strategic management for Campbell Alliance and business planning for Pfizer.

Dhawan holds a bachelor’s in Management Science as well as three independent certificates in Finance, Marketing, and Operations Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She and her husband have two children and reside in south Forsyth County.

The mission of the Forsyth County's Tax Assessors Office is to produce an annual tax digest that conforms to the requirements of Georgia law and the rules and regulations of the Georgia Department of Revenue. The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for determining what real and personal property is subject to taxation in Forsyth County, estimating the market value and administration of the various type of homestead and other property tax exemptions.
