Forsyth County Fire Department Receives Grant for Rapid Rescuer Personal Flotation Devices and Rescue Bags
Grant awarded by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
The Forsyth County Fire Department will have additional equipment for their rescue personnel, thanks to a grant they received from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The $15,561 grant will be used to purchase 75 rapid rescuer personal flotation devices and 45 standard rescue bags. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved receipt of the award at their August 21, 2018, work session.
“With all of the access to water recreation areas we have in Forsyth, we knew that it would be good for our department to have additional rapid rescuer personal flotation devices for our first responders” said Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers. “We would like to thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for their support of public safety organizations and for the grants that enable communities like ours to purchase needed equipment.”
The Foundation, which provides funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations, allocates funding in five areas: lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and continued education, support for members of the military as well as disaster preparedness and disaster relief. Since its inception, the non-profit organization has granted more than $35 million to hometown heroes in 47 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $2.3 million in Georgia
