Forsyth County Fire Department to Hold Annual Boot Drive
Fundraiser held first three Saturdays in May
The Forsyth County Fire Department will join more than 100 fire departments across Georgia to help “Give Burns the Boot”® during their upcoming annual boot drive benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Weather permitting, firefighters will be collecting donations at intersections throughout the county on three upcoming Saturdays: May 6, 13 and 20.
Donations collected during the boot drive will be presented to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and will be used for fire safety and prevention education, and burn survivor services. A portion of the total funds raised will be returned to the Forsyth County Fire Department to support local fire prevention and education efforts. Money raised will also go to Camp Oo-U-La®, a week-long summer camp for burn-injured children (ages 7 to 17) and their siblings.
In addition to the manned intersections, donations can be made online via the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation virtual boot drive at https://fundraise.gfbf.org/forsythco.
“Our firefighters enjoy interacting with citizens, while also fundraising for such a worthy cause,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman. “The Forsyth County Fire Department is grateful to serve such a charitable community.”
The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established to assist with fire prevention and safety education and the treatment and recovery of burn survivors. Since 1990, fire departments across the state have collected more than $19 million for the foundation. For more information, visit www.gfbf.org.
