Forsyth County Fire Department to Hold Annual Boot Drive
Fundraiser held first three Fridays and Saturdays in May
The Forsyth County Fire Department will join more than 100 fire departments across Georgia to help “Give Burns the Boot”® during their upcoming annual boot drive benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Weather permitting, firefighters will be collecting donations at storefronts throughout the county on three Fridays and Saturdays: May 3-4, 10-11 and 18-19 in conjunction with local businesses.
Donations collected during the boot drive will be presented to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and will be used for fire safety and prevention education and burn survivor services. A portion of the total funds raised will be returned to the Forsyth County Fire Department to support local fire prevention and education efforts. Money raised will also go to Camp Oo-U-La®, a week-long summer camp for burn-injured children (ages 7 to 17) and their siblings.
“It is always a great honor to be a part of a fundraising event that serves such a great cause,” said Fire Chief Barry Head. “Our firefighters look forward to raising as much funds as possible while also getting to interact with our community. We also appreciate local businesses for their participation in the fundraising efforts.”
The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established to assist with fire prevention and safety education and the treatment and recovery of burn survivors. Since 1990, fire departments across the state have collected more than $14 million for the foundation. For more information, visit www.gfbf.org.
