Forsyth County Geographic Information Services (GIS) to Host Digital Information Workshop
GIS Day to be held Nov. 13
Residents areinvited to learn more about the county’s Geographic Information Services (GIS)on GIS Day. An informational open house will be held from noon to 1 p.m. onWednesday, Nov. 13, to highlight the county’s GIS resources that can beaccessed through the county’s website. The free event will be held in theForsyth County Administration Building (110 E. Main St., Suite 220).
During the open house, attendees will beable to interact with online GIS resources such as:
- GIS Web Browser (Find generalinformation about the county)
- Interactive Transportation Map (Seeupdated information on road projects)
- Insight2Forsyth (View active permitswithin a 30-day time period)
- Park Locator (Locate and getinformation on a park or amenity)
“We want to put the power of informationin our residents’ hands,” said Forsyth County Chief Information Officer BrandonKenney. “Our GIS tools, many of which have been recently revamped, provideaccess to what is happening in our county’s communities like never before.”
GIS staff will be available during theinformation workshop to answer questions and demonstrate various applicationsand resources available to the public.
