Forsyth County Road Projects Awarded $120M in State Funds

Forsyth County has received $120 million in state funds as part of a $1.5 billion infrastructure investment recently announced by Gov. Brian Kemp. Members of the County’s State delegation presented a check commemorating the investment during the Thursday, Aug. 1, Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meeting. Photos from the presentation are attached for use in your coverage, as needed.

According to State Sen. Greg Dolezal, $110 million of the investment will be allocated to advance the widening of SR 20 through the County, and $10 million will help fund the project to widen McGinnis Ferry Road.

“Part of the work that we do that is so very important is assuring that we return funding back here to the County,” Dolezal said. “As you know, there are 159 counties in the State of Georgia, and I think every one of their delegations would like to be standing here with a check of this size, but Forsyth County has had one of the most significant investments from the State of Georgia over the last number of years, and we’re happy to see that continue.”

Dolezal recognized District 5 Commissioner Laura Semanson and County Manager David McKee for their work helping the County secure state funding for the McGinnis Ferry Road project. He also recognized Rudy Bowen for his many years of service representing his congressional district on the Georgia State Transportation Board, which oversees the Georgia Department of Transportation.
