Parks & Recreation Installing Murals at Central Park, Big Creek Greenway
To enhance the visual appeal of Forsyth County facilities, the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Department applied for a grant earlier this year from the Forsyth County Arts Alliance to install three murals, one at Central Park and two along the Big Creek Greenway.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Parks & Recreation Department accepted a grant of $4,000 from the Forsyth County Arts Alliance, which will cover a portion of the mural installations. The murals are set to be completed by summer 2025. The first mural is located at Central Park Recreation Center and was painted by local artist Lindsey Engbrecht. Additional murals are planned for areas along the Big Creek Greenway on Spot Road.
Previously, the Parks & Recreation Department was awarded a grant from the Forsyth County Arts Alliance for the “Eggstraordinary Outdoor Art Exhibit” in 2008, a project that included large, fiberglass eggs artistically created by local artists and displayed around Forsyth County.
The Forsyth County Arts Alliance is a philanthropic arts organization in Forsyth County that strives to enrich the arts through strategic support and financial stewardship.
