Foster Forsyth Comprehensive Plan Update Process Continues to Move Forward
Public hearing will be held September 27
Forsyth County’s Comprehensive Plan update process, Foster Forsyth, continues to move forward in September. On August 29 and 31, Foster Forsyth held two open houses to debut the draft plan document, giving community members an opportunity to review highlights from the draft plan, discuss aspects with planning team members and offer feedback to refine it. The full draft of the Comprehensive Plan document is available for community review at the project website, fosterforsyth.com. Comments on the plan should be submitted to the planning team at contactus@fosterforsyth.com.
A special called meeting of the Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission and District 2 Sub-Area Planning Commission will be held Tuesday, September 13 at 2 p.m. in the Forsyth County Administration Building, located at 110 E. Main Street in Cumming. At this meeting, county officials will be provided an overview of the draft Comprehensive Plan. The public will have an opportunity to weigh in on the draft on Tuesday, September 27, when the Planning Commission will host the first public hearing on the draft plan. This hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Suite 220 of the Forsyth County Administration Building. An additional hearing will be held in December with the Board of Commissioners. The plan is targeted to be submitted for regional and state review in early December. The original planning period has been extended to allow for additional time for community review and input on the draft document.
About Foster Forsyth
Foster Forsyth is a full update initiative to Forsyth County’s Comprehensive Plan, focused on community elements such as housing, transportation, zoning and other land use matters, as well as economic development. The Comprehensive Plan is the umbrella policy document for the county’s future growth and development, which plays an important role in rezoning and development decisions. The plan also establishes community goals and priorities for the county’s future.
The update process provides an opportunity for the community as a whole to pause and have a meaningful dialogue about its vision for housing, quality of life and employment opportunities, along with the policies and programs that will support plan implementation.
The Comprehensive Plan update process is being conducted by Jacobs in collaboration with Kimley-Horn. For more information, please visit fosterforsyth.com or contact Meghan McMullen, a member of the Jacobs consultant team, at (404) 978-7651 or contactus@fosterforsyth.com.
