Iacopella Named Manager of Forsyth County Animal Shelter
Cynthia Iacopella has been named manager of the Forsyth County Animal Shelter and will join the county staff on June 19. As manager of Forsyth County’s animal shelter, Iacopella will supervise, coordinate and manage the daily activities of the animal shelter personnel. She will be responsible for the oversight of animal care, upkeep of the animal shelter facility, the animal adoption process and the shelter’s community outreach programs.
Iacopella brings to the position more than twenty years in the animal welfare industry. Most recently, she served as director of adoptions for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. Her previous experience also includes serving as director of the town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in New York and as care center director for Animal Care and Control of New York City, and work at zoos and an animal rehabilitation center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physical anthropology and associate degrees in both liberal arts and wildlife science and education.
“We look forward to Cynthia joining Forsyth County and leading operations at our animal shelter,” Interim County Manager Tim Merritt said. “Her vast experience working with animals in many different capacities will be valuable as the shelter continues its focus on providing high quality animal care and maximizing the placement of adoptable animals.”
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is located just off of GA 400 at 4065 County Way in northern Forsyth County. The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
