Jake Hill Named Director of Building & Licensing
Jake Hill has been named Director of the Forsyth County Department of Building & Licensing, effective June 3. Hill brings 10 years of experience to the role.
“We are very excited to have Jake Hill on board as our new Director of the Department of Building & Licensing,” said Assistant County Manager Tony Tarnacki. “His knowledge and experience in permitting, inspections and more make him an ideal leader for this department.”
Hill began his career in building code, permitting and licensing with the City of Woodstock, Georgia, where he was a Senior Inspector and City Arborist.
Since 2021, Hill has served Forsyth County in the Department of Building & Economic Development in the roles of Chief Building Official and then Deputy Director of the department in 2022.
As Deputy Director, Hill managed the day-to-day operations of the Department of Building & Economic Development, overseeing all processes involving permitting, business licensing, plan review and inspections. Hill also led an operational shift from individualized trade inspections to combination inspections for residential permits.
Hill holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Georgia Southern University, and he has obtained the International Code Council’s Master Code Professional designation.
Hill has also been awarded Inspector of the Year in 2019 from the Building Officials Association of Georgia, has served on the State Codes Advisory Committee Task Force, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Building Officials Association of Georgia.
The Department of Building & Licensing, formerly the Department of Building & Economic Development, aligns four similar divisions: Permitting, Business Licensing, Inspections and Commercial Plan Review.
