Marcus Hawk has been named director of Fleet Services, replacing Avery Gravitt who retired in September following 17 years in the position. 

Hawk brings 20 years of experience in motor maintenance, operations and leadership to Fleet Services.

“Marcus is bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Fleet Services team that plays such a crucial role in our county’s operations,” said Assistant County Manager Barry Lucas. “He is a proven leader, and we are pleased to welcome him to Forsyth County.”

Since 2017, Hawk served as branch manager and regional director of maintenance for Aim Transportation Services in Gainesville, Ga. Previously, he was a transportation supervisor for Accent Controls Inc. Hawk began his career is motor maintenance and operations as a wheeled vehicle mechanic for the U.S. Army.

Hawk attended Lumpkin County High School and Gainesville State College. His first day with the County was on Monday, Sept. 25.

Forsyth County Fleet Services is responsible for repairing and servicing Forsyth County’s vehicles and equipment. Repairs range from oil and lube to major overhaul on gasoline and diesel engines, automatic and manual transmission rebuilds, tire mounting and balancing. Fleet Services tracks all County vehicles, equipment, fuel and repair costs. Fleet Services maintains and monitors the County’s 10 gas and diesel fueling sites.
