New Disc Golf Course to Open at Chattahoochee Pointe on March 16
New disc golf course will host a tournament to kick off the course opening
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation will open a new disc golf course at Chattahoochee Pointe (5790 Chattahoochee Pointe Dr.) on Saturday, March 16. The opening day will feature a Professional Disc Golf Association sanctioned tournament. The course will open to the public on Sunday, March 17.
The new disc golf course is situated in a natural setting along the Chattahoochee River. The course features 18 holes with blue tees for advanced players while the white tees are for beginner to intermediate players. As an added feature, the course includes two basket setting options to create different challenges for players.
“We look forward to offering an additional disc golf course in the southern portion of the county,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jim Pryor. “The existing course at Central Park is well used and this will provide another outlet for disc golfers in the county as well as visitors from the surrounding areas.”
The disc golf course was funded by SPLOST VII funds. Part of the course installation included the planting of 60 new trees that were donated by three local Rotary Clubs. The park at Chattahoochee Pointe also features a water inspired playground, two picnic pavilions, a community orchard, a 3.1-mile soft surface trail and a canoe/kayak launch for the Chattahoochee River.
