Online Survey Seeks Input on Potential Transportation Solutions in Forsyth County
Survey available at forsythtransportationplan.com
Forsyth County is nearing the end of the process of updating its comprehensive transportation plan, a guiding document that outlines the long-range vision for transportation in the county. The Forsyth Transportation Plan update examines the many changes that have occurred in the county’s population, employment, land use and development since the 2011 plan. Updated every five years, the plan is taking a close look at the transportation needs of people who live, work and play throughout the county and will result in projects to address vehicular, freight, bicycle and pedestrian needs.
Now in the recommendations analysis phase, the project team has launched an online survey to solicit input from the public on potential solutions and draft projects. The community is encouraged to visit the project website – forsythtransportationplan.com – to participate in the online survey. The survey will be available through Sunday, December 31.
In addition to the online survey, the county is hosting open house sessions in various locations throughout the months of November and December. The public is invited to attend any of the remaining open houses:
Tuesday, November 28
Lambert High School, Cafeteria
805 Nichols Road
Thursday, November 30
West Forsyth High School, Cafeteria
4155 Drew Road
Thursday, December 7
Hampton Park Library, Meeting Room
5345 Settingdown Road
Please note there will be no formal presentation, and the same information will be displayed at each session. Attendees may drop in any time between 6 and 8 p.m.
Community involvement is key in ensuring the plan update truly captures the spirit and desire of the various voices that represent Forsyth County. Those who cannot attend the open house sessions are encouraged to view the display materials and to participate in the online survey, both available on the project website.
Public input, combined with the technical expertise of Forsyth County staff and the consultant team, will result in a list of transportation projects – as well as policy recommendations – for consideration and adoption by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.
