Open House Seeks Community Input for an Integrated Trail System in Northern Forsyth County
Community invited to review and refine plans for trail system
A community open house will be held on Thursday, March 28, at the Forsyth County Administration Building for citizen review and feedback of a subarea plan designed to establish an integrated trail system in the northern portion of the county.
The proposed trail incorporates land-use connections between neighborhoods, county facilities and the county’s natural resources including Lake Lanier, Sawnee Mountain and the Etowah River and is being developed to build upon the Forsyth County Bicycle Transportation & Pedestrian Walkways 2025 Plan.
“The subarea plan brings together the county’s emphasis on health and wellness, along with the focus on town centers and connectivity that were identified as a part of our recently adopted Comprehensive Plan,” said Forsyth County District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills.
“Also, the community input received through the recent Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan showed that 75 percent of respondents ranked walking on nature trails as the outdoor activity of most interest to them. We are listening to our citizens and moving forward with initiatives like the subarea plan that address their input.”
The open house will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 at the Forsyth County Administration Building located at 110 E. Main Street in Cumming (Suite 220).
Project specialists and county staff will be available to answer questions regarding the subarea plan as well as provide information on the plan’s design and implementation.
