Public Input Sought on County’s Tree and Effective Mass Grading Ordinances
Meetings to discuss potential ordinancemodifications to be held Aug. 15 and Aug. 22
Two public input meetingswill be held in August to continue the public engagement process for the reviewof the county’s tree ordinance and regulations pertaining to mass grading. Theseitems, along with an incentive program for low impact storm water design, wereidentified as implementation measures in the latest update of the ForsythCounty Comprehensive Plan.
In order to protect andprovide access to the county’s natural and cultural assets as noted in theplan, the county seeks further community input in order to recommendmodifications and enhancements to current standards.
The Aug. 15 meeting willprovide an opportunity and platform for Forsyth County residents and otherinterested parties to discuss tree preservation requirements and optionsrelated to tree save areas and legacy trees.
The Aug. 22 meeting willprovide an opportunity and platform for Forsyth County residents and otherinterested parties to discuss the current requirements and best practices ofclearing vegetation and moving earth during the development process.
“We had a good turnout atthe June 20 kick-off meeting, and appreciated the input we received,” saidDeputy Director of Planning and Community Development VanessaBernstein-Goldman. “We look forward to continuing the conversation with ForsythCounty stakeholders during our August meetings.”
Thepublic input meetings for stakeholder feedback will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 15, and Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Forsyth County AdministrationBuilding located at 110 E. Main Street in Cumming (Suite 220). The meetings areopen house format, with an overview presented at 6:30 p.m. during bothmeetings.
