Registration is Open for Forsyth County's Fourth Annual Citizens' Academy
Residents are encouraged and welcome to apply for Forsyth County’s fourth annual Citizens’ Academy, a free and immersive program that will provide participants a behind-the-scenes look and deeper understanding of how Forsyth County Government functions.
Participating in eight classes over the course of four months, participants will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Finance, Fire, Planning & Community Development departments and many more. The 2025 schedule is available here.
“The Citizens’ Academy is designed to educate residents about Forsyth County Government and create champions of Forsyth County who are inspired to become community leaders themselves,” said County Manager David McKee. “We are excited to welcome another class of residents to the program and look forward to their continued contributions to making this County the best place to live, work and play.”
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and either a resident of Forsyth County, a small business owner in the County or attend a college or university located in the County. Participants must also be willing to make a commitment to attend the full program, which typically will be held twice a month from typically from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning May 7 through Sept. 17.
Those interested in applying for the Citizen’s Academy must submit a completed application available by clicking here or through the Community Engagement page on forsythco.com. Selected applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality and liability form prior to the start of the program. Space in the program is limited, and selection is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, April 21. Candidates accepted into the academy will be notified by April 23. For more information about the Citizens’ Academy, please contact Amanda Roper at AERoper@forsythco.com.
