Registration Open for Forsyth County’s Inaugural Citizens’ Academy
Free hands-on program educates residents about local government functions
Forsyth County residents are encouraged to apply for the County’s inaugural Citizens’ Academy, a new, immersive program that will expand residents’ knowledge of Forsyth County Government.
“Local government has the greatest impact on residents’ day-to-day lives, but few people know about the innerworkings of the government closest to them,” said County Manager Kevin Tanner. “We aim to change that with this interactive program that provides participants a behind-the-scenes look at the Forsyth County Government through meetings with County Officials and site visits to various County departments.”
Participants must be at least 18 years old and either a resident of Forsyth County, a small business owner in the County or attend a college or university located in the County. Participants must be willing to make a commitment to attend the full program which will be held twice a month on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning May 11 through Aug. 17.
Those interested in applying for the Citizens’ Academy must submit a completed application, available by clicking here or through the Community Engagement page on the Forsyth County website at forsythco.com. Selected applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality and liability form prior to the start of the program. Space in the program is limited, and selection is first-come, first-serve.
Applications must be received by April 20. Candidates accepted into the academy will be notified by April 30. For more information about the Citizens’ Academy, please contact Taylor Hall at TDHall@forsythco.com
