Registration to Recycle Household Hazardous Waste Opens Oct. 14
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB), in partnership with the Forsyth County Department of Recycling & Solid Waste and the City of Cumming, invites residents to participate in the Household Hazardous Waste Recycling and Disposal event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The event will be held at the Cumming Fairgrounds' parking lot 3 (235 Castleberry Road), located across from the Fairgrounds at the Castleberry Bridge.
Online pre-registration will open on Monday, Oct. 14, at keepforsythcountybeautiful.org and is required for participation. Availability is on a first come, first served basis until the maximum number of materials or vehicles are registered.
Items that will be accepted include corrosive, ignitable, toxic and/or reactive household hazardous waste such as paints, electronics, cleaners, oils, fuels, batteries, fluorescent or HID light bulbs, herbicides, pesticides and more. Items that will not be accepted include medical waste, needles, ammunition, explosives, pharmaceuticals and non-hazardous items.
“Things that we use every day, such as cleaning supplies and paint, can be hazardous not only to people but to the environment if not disposed of properly. I believe most people want to do the right thing, and we are so proud to be able to offer this affordable, convenient service to the community,” said Forsyth County Environmental Program Manager Tammy Keaton.
There is no charge for dropping off household hazardous waste during the event. A $5 donation is requested to help support Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
