Return Flow System Fieldwork Continues, Expect Brief Lane Closures
Work on the Lake Lanier Return Flow System continues!
Crews will be conducting fieldwork at 22 locations along the project route the week of April 23-29. The work will take approximately two hours at each location, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Expect brief, intermittent lane closures and delays in the following locations:
- GA-400 SB shoulder near exit 13
- GA-400 NB shoulder and NB on-ramp at exit 13
- Shiloh Rd. at Mars Hill intersection
- Access Rd.
- Pendley Rd.
- Ronald Reagan Blvd. at Bill Cantrell and Quarry Entrance intersections
- Buford Hwy. (SR 20) at Sanders Rd. intersection
- Sanders Rd.
- Buford Dam Rd. at Sanders Rd. Intersection
What fieldwork are the crews doing? Crews will be performing soil boring, also called geotechnical boring, which is a technique used to investigate and determine soil composition and conditions at a site where construction is planned.
The completed Return Flow System will convey highly treated water from the Fowler Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) to Lake Lanier. Learn more about the Lake Lanier Return Flow System.
