Shields Joins Forsyth County as Director Of Communications
Forsyth County government has hired a director to lead its Communications Department. Karen Shields will join the county staff as director of communications on July 9. This position oversees county publications, media relations, county social media pages and internal communications.
Shields brings to the position more than 20 years of professional experience in the field of communications. Most recently she served as the communications manager and public information officer for the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources. Shields holds a degree in Business/Office Administration from Southern Adventist University.
“Being able to send accurate messages directly with residents through as many mediums as possible is paramount in today’s age that demands instant communication,” said Forsyth County Manager Eric Johnson. “We have an incredible staff in our Communications Department and we are very pleased to have Karen, a seasoned communications professional, join that team and be a part of our efforts to build upon the process of information communication to the citizens of Forsyth County.”
