The Greatest American Cleanup Kicks off March 1

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) welcomes everyone to take part in Phase 1 of the Greatest American Cleanup by helping remove litter from the community’s roadways between Saturday, March 1, and Saturday, May 31.

The effort is a part of the Keep America Beautiful initiative, which has a nationwide goal of picking up 25 billion pieces of litter across the United States by July 2026 to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary next year.

“25 billion pieces of litter picked up by July 4, 2026, is a monumental goal to honor our nation’s milestone birthday,” said Forsyth County Environmental Programs Manager Tammy Keaton. “We look forward to being part of this new Keep America Beautiful initiative, while also making a positive impact on our local community. And we’re always grateful for the hard work our residents put in to help our county shine.”

Here's how the cleanup process works:

1. ORGANIZE YOUR GROUP (or clean solo): Individuals, families, businesses, community organizations, clubs- youth to adult.
2. SCHEDULE/PICK UP: Schedule a slot and pick up your supplies at the KFCB Office (426 Canton Highway). Participants also get a free t-shirt while supplies last!
3. CLEAN UP: Clean your road or area anytime that is convenient for you from March 1 to May 31.
4. FILL OUT: Fill out a status report.
5. DROP OFF: Leave your bags grouped on the side of the road and text us the location. Then arrange to drop off your supplies at the KFCB Office.

Pre-registration for this event is required. Volunteers can sign up for the Greatest American Cleanup here.

Volunteers must provide their own transportation to their assigned roads and sign a waiver before participation.
