At their May 18 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized the accomplishments of Clara Hamilton, Laurel Ross and Samantha Schoenfeld, who each recently earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. All three are seniors at Forsyth Central High School in Girl Scout Troop 11805. 

Commissioner Laura Semanson read a resolution that detailed each Girl Scout’s leadership and commitment to community service. 

Hamilton created and installed the Forsyth County History Walk project, located at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center, to give visitors a visual monument to the surrounding community’s past as it relates to today’s Forsyth County residents.  

Ross created the Forsyth Central High School Visual Arts Department Artist Spotlight website, which gives young artists within the school a platform to showcase and present their work to the community.

Schoenfeld partnered with the Georgia Department of Public Health and Senior Services of North Fulton to donate 500 Operation ICE (In Case of Emergency) preparedness kits to senior citizens in addition to creating a first responder project awareness training video and website.

The Board congratulates the Girls Scouts for their outstanding achievements and thanks them for the many hours dedicated to serving the community.
