VIDEO: Get the Latest Updates on the Ronald Reagan Blvd. Extension, Now Partially Open
The southern portion of the new Ronald Reagan Blvd. Extension is now open between Shiloh Road and McFarland Parkway, with one lane in each direction. Construction continues for the portion of the extension north of Shiloh Road.
In this episode of On the Move, Capital Projects Director John Jefferson provides the latest updates on the progress and timeline of the extension project.
The SPLOST-funded extension of Ronald Reagan Blvd. consists of a new, approximately four-mile-long roadway with four lanes and a raised median connecting the tail-end of Ronald Reagan Blvd. to McFarland Parkway.
The segment is estimated to move in excess of 35,000 vehicles per day in the design year, and it represents the final leg of Ronald Reagan Blvd., completing the 16-mile-long corridor that will connect Cumming to Alpharetta.
New traffic signals, a bridge over Big Creek and extensive wetland mitigation are included in this project budgeted at $60 million.
