(UPDATE) Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Southwest Forsyth County

UPDATE: March 22 – 7:30 a.m.: The Boil Water Advisory (BWA) issued on Thursday, March. 20, for Forsyth County water customers in SW Forsyth County after a water main was impacted by a contractor near Fowler Park, has been fully lifted.

Water quality tests have been completed and indicate the water is safe for consumption without boiling for all customers impacted.

The Department of Water & Sewer thanks you for your patience as samples were tested and cleared, in accordance with state law, following the brief disruption of service that occurred on Thursday.


(UPDATE) Thursday, March 20 - 8:27 p.m. - Thank you for your patience as crews continue to determine the approximate scope of the Boil Water Advisory (BWA). The general impacted areas under the BWA include:

- South of Hawkins Drive, west of Tribble Road, and north of Hwy 20.
- South of Hwy 20, west of Post Road and north of intersection of Campground Rd. and SR 9
- The vicinity of Hwy 9 and Post Rd, along Hwy 9 west of Post Road to the County line.

Customers under the BWA have been contacted via an automated voice messaging system. Customers receiving a notification from the Department of Water & Sewer should boil water before drinking, cooking or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one full minute after reaching a full boil. Customers provided with the boil water advisory are asked to continue to boil water for 48 hours, unless notified otherwise by the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer.

(UPDATE) BOIL WATER ADVISORY: On Thursday, March 20, the Forsyth County Department of Water and Sewer experienced a water outage/low water pressure issue in the western part of the county due to a contractor hitting and damaging a water main. Customers reported low or no water pressure over an extended area. Water service was restored quickly however, a boil water advisory is being issued as a precaution for customers in the affected area.

Customers receiving a notification from the Department of Water & Sewer should boil water before drinking, cooking or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one full minute after reaching a full boil. Customers provided with the boil water advisory are asked to continue to boil water for 48 hours, unless notified otherwise by the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer.
