The District Attorney’s duties are defined in the Georgia Constitution and by State law. The primary responsibility is to prosecute all felony crimes in the Superior and Juvenile Courts that occur in Forsyth County. These duties are carried out with a staff of attorneys, investigators, victim advocates and administrative support personnel.

A misdemeanor is a crime that carries a maximum sentence of twelve months. A felony is more serious, carrying a minimum sentence of one year.

Talk to the assistant district attorney assigned to your case. The prosecutor will consider your request, but may decide to prosecute the case if it is in the best interest of the community.

A subpoena is a summons that requires your attendance in court unless you are excused. Call the number provided on the subpoena to leave your email address and phone number. You will be placed on call. Someone from the District Attorney’s office will contact you to let you know if you will need to come to court.
