Dear Forsyth County Citizens,
November is already into full swing, and this is the month that I like to pause and think about what I am most grateful for. This past weekend, my church, Oak Grove Baptist, hosted our 32nd annual Oak Grove Opry after missing it last year due to the pandemic. To see my grandchildren’s glee and my church family come together again to laugh, enjoy, and perform for hundreds of people who wanted to be entertained was such a blessing. The youth of the church were so grateful to have this event back in their lives. Perhaps we can think of this as a positive from the pandemic, things we took for granted like attending church, we won’t take for granted again.
I don’t believe we have seen the lasting effects COVID has had on our mental health and the reoccurrence or damaging effects it will leave upon so many. I hope we can be better prepared to deal with it by how we use the recovery money in the future. More to come on that, hopefully, in the next newsletter.
I want to tell each of you how thankful I am for you and all the citizens of our county. I’m grateful you’ve supported initiatives like our Transportation Bond and SPLOST, so we have revenues to complete county projects. (View the Transportation Summit video here). I am grateful I have had this opportunity to serve as your commissioner and Chairman and I sincerely hope I have met your expectation in service as well.
