Ali Norris Interview

As your District 4 Commissioner, there are few things that are more exciting than a ribbon cutting for a new park. Cutting the ribbon at Lanierland Park tomorrow is especially gratifying to me. I spent most of my life growing up there, as my parents leased the land and were partners in Lanierland Music Park. My grandfather used to own this land and actually sold it to the Samples Family years and years ago. I started out as an 8 year old girl pumping cokes in the concession stand and almost 20 years later became the general manager who booked the concerts and managed it daily. When they closed the business after 36 years, it was very emotional for our family. Years later the Samples family sold the land to the county for a park in 2009. Who knew that in 2017 I would be cutting the ribbon for this beautiful county park on this same piece of land?  To know that Lanierland Music Park gave the community and the region precious memories for 36 years and that the county is now providing a park for families to create more memories that will last a lifetime, I take special pride inviting you to the ribbon cutting at Lanierland Park tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29th, at 10 am. I hope to see you there at our celebration with children from North Forsyth High, Silver City Elementary, Chestatee Elementary and Creative Enterprises. After all, our future and our parks rest upon the success of our children!
